During the past thirty years, Ramkhamhaeng University has achieved its goal of providing opportunities for all citizens to study in their specific fields of interest. Now the university has a new goal that of providing rapid and affordable health care services to all Thai people in the most efficient manner possible.
The Institute of Health Science has subsequently been established to make this goal achievable. In 2002, an initiative was launched, in collaboration with the School of Optometry at Indiana University, U.S.A., to develop courses in Optometry and Health Informatics. The American-based Optometry Course will assist in developing eye-care services throughout the country, and a Master degree program in Health Informatics will be the means by which this service and others to follow, can be provided.
Currently, a program of study for a Bachelor Degree in Thai Traditional Medicine is also provided.
